Caring for Our Corner of the Pacific Northwest

Wonderland 222 is created in Tacoma, surrounded by the waterways, shorelines, forests, and wildlife of the Pacific Northwest. This place inspires much of what we do, and we believe in caring for the community and environment that make it feel like home.

Hands-On Stewardship

Showing up for our local waters and wildlife

Alongside creating planners and notebooks, we volunteer with local conservation efforts and support tree planting through a portion of our sales. For us, giving back means contributing time, care, and resources to work that protects the place we call home.

Salmon & Orca Recovery

C.O.R.E. Salmon Project

The C.O.R.E. Project brings together local students, volunteers, anglers, tribal partners, and conservation organizations to raise, study, and release Chinook salmon in Puget Sound.

Chinook salmon are closely connected to the survival of Southern Resident orcas. Through this project, the relationship between healthy local waters, salmon recovery, and the orcas that depend on them becomes something we can witness and support here in our own Tacoma community.

Wonderland 222 volunteers by helping set up and break down the net pens, feeding the salmon during their time in care, and participating in their release into the Salish Sea.

Planting Trees

Through Sprout by GoodAPI, a portion of Wonderland 222 sales supports tree planting. It is one more way we can extend our commitment beyond our local volunteer work and contribute to restoration efforts with the support of our community.

Looking Ahead

Orca Adoption

Coming Soon

Our work with the C.O.R.E. Salmon Project has deepened our appreciation for the connection between Chinook salmon and Southern Resident orcas. We are exploring an orca adoption initiative and look forward to sharing more soon.

Materials

Thoughtful Paper Choices

Paper is at the heart of what we make. Many earlier Wonderland 222 planners and notebooks were made with 52gsm Tomoe River paper by Tomoegawa or Sanzen. Our current books continue that commitment to ultra-lightweight paper with a 52gsm stock selected for its writing performance, portability, and ability to hold hundreds of usable pages in a slim, practical format.

At 52gsm, these papers use substantially less paper mass per page than heavier conventional writing papers. This allows us to create high-page-count books that remain slim and lightweight, with less paper weight in each finished book than the same page count made with heavier paper.

We also consider the broader environmental practices published by the paper manufacturers whose materials we choose. Across our paper selections, we look for alignment with responsible material sourcing, resource conservation, reduced environmental burden, forest or biodiversity stewardship, and recognized forest-certification systems within broader operations.

Paper weight is only one part of a product's overall environmental footprint. We do believe that thoughtful material choices matter, and we continue to look for papers that support both a beautiful writing experience and the values that guide Wonderland 222.

Everyday Choices

Thoughtful Packaging

We have also made changes closer to home in the way Wonderland 222 orders are packed and shipped. Nearly all of the plastic shipping materials we previously used, including bubble mailers and bubble wrap, have been replaced with paper-based alternatives.

Our orders are now protected with recyclable, non-toxic honeycomb packing paper and biodegradable kraft packing paper made from 100% recycled material. Our shipping boxes can also be recycled after your order arrives.

Our thank-you cards are printed on compostable, plantable seed paper, giving them the opportunity to become something new instead of being discarded.

These changes are part of our effort to make more thoughtful choices wherever we can, while still making sure your planners and notebooks arrive safely.
