Our History
Wonderland 222 is an independent U.S. planner and notebook company founded by Liisa Roberts and Andy Panske. We were the first U.S. company designing planners on 52gsm Tomoe River Paper.

Why we started Wonderland 222
I wanted a planner with structure, but not too much of it.
As someone with ADHD, I found many planners too busy, rigid, bulky, or heavily printed. I wanted to see my time clearly without having to follow someone else’s system. I also wanted good paper and a planner that worked well with fountain pens.
Bullet journals gave me the flexibility I wanted, but I did not want to draw the same calendars, weekly spreads, trackers, and organizational pages over and over. Hobonichi introduced me to Tomoe River Paper and showed me how much planning and writing could fit into a portable book.
Andy and I brought those ideas together. We created the recurring layouts in advance and left the rest flexible. The result was a planner with quiet pages, useful structure, and room to plan, write, journal, and change methods when needed.
2020 Notebook Covers
Launching at an unexpected moment
We released our first planner in March 2020, just before widespread COVID-19 shutdowns. We launched without an established audience or retail network, then built the company through the pandemic, supply-chain disruptions, and international shipping delays.
The original planner and notebook already included many features that remain part of Wonderland 222:

Tomoe River Paper from the beginning
Tomoe River Paper was part of the original design, not something we added later. Its thinness allowed us to include more pages without producing an unnecessarily bulky book. Its smooth surface also worked well with the fountain pens and inks we used ourselves.
Our December 2019 pre-launch update described 52gsm Tomoe River Paper as the one nonnegotiable part of the books. That post also discussed light structure, open layouts, and using the planner and notebook together as a hybrid bullet-journal system.
Wonderland 222 reaches the planner community
Best Laid Plans published an in-depth review of our planner and notebook system on November 9, 2020. On November 19, New York Magazine’s The Strategist named Wonderland 222 one of the best weekly planners for 2021.
For roughly our first four years, the U.S.-based 52gsm Tomoe River planner space remained relatively open. Hobonichi was the established reference point for many thin-paper planner users. Wonderland 222 offered a U.S.-based system with its own layouts and planning philosophy.

What has stayed the same
Wonderland 222 has grown, but the purpose has stayed consistent. We make planners and notebooks for people who want structure without visual noise, good paper, flexible writing space, and the freedom to use a book in their own way.
Our planners connect yearly, quarterly, monthly, and weekly planning with flexible daily and note pages. Page numbers, Key pages, and Index pages help keep plans, notes, projects, and collections organized. The system can live in one All-in-One planner or across a planner and notebook used together.
